September Client of the Month – Gus
Gus started with me about 2.5 months ago as one of the challengers in my 2nd Very Serious Weight Loss Challenge. He was extremely successful having lost 36 lbs in the first 6 weeks, and is currently in his second challenge. He has always done everything I asked of him as well as stays on the meal plan. Gus was voted the “Most Motivating” during the last challenge because of his drive, success and encouraging words to his teammates. He was kind enough to answer a few questions for me:
I found Kate through Facebook, and I knew I needed a lifestyle change. Diabetes and arthritis run in my family and I didn’t want my wife & children to see what I went through with my family. I want to see my children and grandchildren grow up and enjoy life to the fullest.
I love coming to bootcamp because I know I am going to sweat out my stress, anger, sadness, etc. Prior to bootcamp I would have stopped for fast food on the way home from work before dinner. A bag of chips, a box of crackers or a block of cheese is no more…now I go for a run. For the first challenge being the only guy was nice because I fit in just like one of the girls, but now that there are a few more males, bootcamp is more interesting and competitive. A competitive nature makes everyone strive to win and burn more calories.
My greatest achievement so far is…I can’t believe I going to say this, but I enjoy running! Never in my life have I been a runner. Being overweight deterred me from even trying. After dropping the first 20 lbs. I felt less pressure on my knees and shins, so I conquered 1 mile without stopping. The more I lost, the more I would run. First challenge I lost 36 lbs. and was up to 4 miles without stopping. Now, I am down 44 lbs. and ran 10 miles! I am literally and physically in the best shape of my life and I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, wife, kids and especially my lifestyle manager, Kate!
